How can I find a female dentist?
You can always use a search engine like Google or ask friends, family members, and neighbors that you trust for their recommendations. Or, if you are looking for a female dentist in Minot, you can schedule an appointment with our team at Souris Valley Dental Group! We’re proud to have a caring, experienced, and passionate female dentist at our office, Dr. Joanna Brekhus.
Dr. Brekhus’ journey to becoming the incredible dentist she is today began at North Dakota State University. Following graduation, she attended Creighton University, which is where she earned her dental doctorate. Over the last 10+ years, she has prioritized continuing education to ensure that she is up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies as well.
What do you do if you can't afford a dentist?
Whether it’s time for your six-month checkup, you’re struggling with a painful toothache, or you’re ready to face tooth loss head-on with dental implants, the last thing we want is for the cost to be the only thing standing between you and the care that you need. That’s why there are several affordable payment options at our office, including dental insurance and flexible financing! Not only that, but we take pride in helping our patients navigate the financial side of their care, so the process is simple instead of stressful.
How do I get emergency dental care?
Do your gums bleed when you floss? Is there a pimple-like bump on your gums? Do you feel a sharp pain when you bite down? Over the phone, we can learn a little more about your symptoms, assess the urgency of the situation, and schedule an appointment with one of our talented, experienced, and caring dentists.
Important reminder: If you are experiencing any potentially life-threatening symptoms, like trouble breathing, then you should call 911 or head to the ER. Once you get the medical attention that you need, you can call our office to get the necessary dental care as well.
What level of education is required to be a dentist?
The first step toward becoming a dentist is obtaining an undergraduate degree, usually with very high grades and in a major that’s heavy in math and science. Then, they must be accepted to an accredited dental school in the U.S. From there, they must complete rigorous in-classroom and hands-on training to earn their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) degree. At this point, they can practice dentistry, but they need to complete continuing education hours each year in order to maintain their license.
