For more than 40 years now, Dr. Hildahl has spent his days doing what he loves: helping others smile! His journey to becoming a top-rated dentist near Velva began at North Dakota State University. After graduation, he attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, which is where he earned his dental doctorate. Before opening his own practice, he was an instructor at the Minnesota Dental School!
Throughout his career, Dr. Hildahl has continued to complete advanced training with well-renowned institutes like the LD Pankey Institute, the Spear Center for Dental Education, the Las Vegas Institute, and Dawson Seminars. Plus, his 30+ years of dedication to the Academy of General Dentistry resulted in him receiving a “Fellowship of the AGD” award. To put this accomplishment in perspective, less than 1% of dentists in the US reach this milestone!
When he isn’t at the office, Dr. Hildahl enjoys spending time with his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. Some of his other hobbies include curling, hunting, fishing, and softball.
Dr. Hensen’s experience in the world of dentistry began right here at Souris Valley Dental Group! When he was at a crossroads in his career, he was invited by his sister (a hygienist) to come shadow her at her dental office. The amazing relationships he formed inspired him to start his career here as well.
Since earning his DDS at the Creighton School of Dentistry, Dr. Hensen has completed countless hours of continuing education courses through Spear Education. If that wasn’t impressive enough, he also runs a local study club through Spear outside the office! However, his favorite thing to do in his free time is be with his wife and their two energetic boys. He is also a wildlife enthusiast who enjoys archery hunting and living the farm life.
With parents who worked in health-related fields and an interest in science, art, and working with his hands, you could say becoming a dentist was Dr. Brodersen’s destiny! He chose to complete his studies at the University of Nebraska-Medical Center College of Dentistry, which is where he earned his dental doctorate. However, his pursuit of education and training wasn’t over. To this day, he completes courses with Spear Education and is an active member of notable organizations, including the American Dental Association and North Dakota Dental Association.
When he isn’t at the office, you’ll most likely find Dr. Brodersen with his wife (one of our other talented team members at Souris Valley Dental Group!). He also thoroughly enjoys golfing, playing basketball, hiking, kayaking, and biking.
Dr. Brekhus was inspired by our very own Dr. Hildahl to join the world of dentistry. When she was 14, he fixed her front teeth, and she didn’t stop smiling for a full two days! The transformation inspired her to become a dentist herself, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Dr. Brekhus attended North Dakota State University before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery at Creighton University. Over the last 10+ years, she has completed continuing education through the University of Minnesota, Spear Educational Facilities, and active memberships with professional organizations, like the North Dakota Dental Association.
When she isn’t at the office or pursuing advanced training, you’ll find Dr. Brekhus spending time with her husband and their two daughters. Some of her many hobbies include horseback riding, gardening, reading, and coaching her kids’ travel basketball teams!
